Recall Campaign for Inspection of Engine Auto Tensioner for Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander and ASX & Replacement of the Sunroof Glass Assembly on Lancer and Outlander

In coordination with the Competition & Consumer Protection Department in the Ministry of Economy, Al Habtoor Motors announces a Recall Campaign for a limited number of Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander and ASX vehicles with the below details which will be effective immediately.

Al Habtoor Motors Co. LLC, the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in the UAE, have released the following statement:

"We regret to inform that

(a) Due to improper design of auto tensioner, the sliding resistance forces will increase after degradation over time. This might cause cracks damage on flange area of auto tensioner if the engine is used under high-load driving repetitively. In worse case, flange will break and the drive-belt will fall off. This will cause the engine warning light to switch on, loss of power steering force assistance, battery discharging, and engine overheating.

(b) Due to prolonged exposure to temperature and humidity, adhesive strength of the outer frame of the sunroof glass assembly may become weak due to inappropriate resin material. As a result, the sunroof glass may detach from the outer frame because of vibration and/or wind pressure during driving and could pose an accident or injury risk to the vehicle occupants and other road users."

All repairs related to this recall campaign will be completed free of charge to the customer.

(a) A total of 7,227 Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander and ASX vehicles, Model Code (CY4A), (CW5W) and (GA2W) are affected in Dubai/Northern Emirates/Abu Dhabi/Al Ain manufactured between January 2008 and December 2012.

(b) A total of 6,125 Mitsubishi Lancer and Outlander vehicles, Model Code (CY2A, CY4A), (CW5W, CW6W) are affected in Dubai/Northern Emirates/Abu Dhabi/Al Ain manufactured between January 2008 and December 2010.

No other vehicles are affected.

In the interests of delivering the highest standards of Mitsubishi quality and customer care, Al Habtoor Motors LLC (Dubai, Northern Emirates, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain) will contact all customers with affected models to arrange for repairs to be made.
